【摘要】:ThesetestmethodsareapplicabletogreasesofNationalLubricatingGreaseInstitute(NLGI)consistencynumbers0to4andisintendedforuseonlywherethesizeofthesamplepreventstheuseofTestMethodsD217.Actualreduced-scalepenetrationvaluesarenotusedorreported.Theyareconvertedtofull-scalepenetrationvalues(seeSections9and10).Thistestmethodisnotintendedtoreplacethefull-scalepenetrationasdescribedinTestMethodsD217.Precisionisbetterinthefull-scalepenetrationmethod.Workedpenetrationresults,afterconversiontofull-scalevalues,maybeusedtoestablishtheconsistencyoflubricatinggreaseswithintheaboveNLGIconsistencynumbers.Theresultsobtainedfromthesetestmethodsarewidelyusedforspecificationpurposes,however,nocorrelationwithfieldperformancehasbeenestablished.Unworkedpenetrationresultsprovideameansofevaluatingtheeffectofstorageconditionsongreaseconsistency.1.1Thesetestmethodscovertwoproceduresformeasuringtheconsistencyofsmallsamplesoflubricatinggreasesbypenetrationofax00BC;-scaleconeorax00BD;-scalecone.Thesetestmethodsincludeproceduresforthemeasurementofunworkedandworkedpenetrations.1.2Unworkedpenetrationsdonotgenerallyrepresenttheconsistencyofgreasesinuseaseffectivelyasdoworkedpenetrations.Thelatterareusuallypreferredforinspectinglubricatinggreases.1.3ThevaluesinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.IntheUnitedStates,theequipmentdimensionsstatedininchesaretoberegardedasthestandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
